Those ape hangers would have to go though
I was going through old Tokyo trip photos and realized that the “cool police bike” I photographed before I knew anything about motorcycles was in fact a 5th Gen VFR800. The very bike I’d buy eight months later.
Neat! That would make for a pretty cool import...
In other news, I’m still looking at bikes for sale because I need more bad decisions in my life.
Like this other 5th Gen VFR800! But... Blue. Hngggg. W hat do you think the chances are that it doesn’t sell before winter and I can lowball the guy into oblivion? I can fit another bike in my parking spot easy so it’s basically free. Tell me I’m not crazy. Hell, at $2500 obo I kind of want to make an offer right now....

I like the look of T riumph’s ADV offering, and really want to try one out. That said if I ever go the hard case route again, I want them to be top-loading so I can open them on the bike without shit spilling out.

And here’s one for the living room decor. Forget the TV.

N+1! The tiger is a pretty great bike. I seriously considered one before the twin. Excellent road manners and handling for an ADV, still capable away from pavement. And those side cases look fine to live with since they don’t open far enough for stuff to fall out of, especially with that webbing stuff. Reasonable miles, good upgrades, might be a great option!
Next weekend? Weekend after?

How about the last weekend of September?
I went car camping and used a givi case as a cooler lol. I kept thinking about how great it would work if it was top loading, and maybe had a bit of extra insulation...

Let’s do it!
I once transported a couple pints of ice cream (salt and straw, do you have that up there?) in my side case in 100 degree heat for an hour and a half. Just had a couple ice packs in with it. It actually was still quite solid by the end!

Perfect. That gives me a bit of time to figure out my camping setup. I reaaaa ally want to avoid bringing the saddlebags, they really screw up my balance on fun twisty roads!
Had to look that one up, but yes looks like there are a couple in Seattle. Are they worth the trip ?

I know a guy who just bought a Tiger. He went from a Honda ST1300, to a V-Strom. Didn’t like the handling of the V-Strom, and replaced it with the Tiger.

The trick is to keep weight as close to equal from one side to the other. Added weight is added weight, you can’t avoid that. But balance is a big deal.
It’s quite good. Expensive. But worth trying at least once. Pre-covid lines would often be be out the door and around the corner. It's a decent date night spot, good people watching and time to talk. But if you want to avoid the wait (if there is one these days) you can skip the line when buying pints, you just get a lot less choice that way.

Had my 2012 Tiger 800 XC for five years or so and absolutely love it. Excellent all-rounder and has done downtown Chicago commuting, cross-country trips, and fire roads without complaint—only bike I’ve ever had that I plan to keep forever.

Spotted this one at a track day last weekend at The Ridge. Guy has been tracking it for years.
